Naturopathy is a holistic form of medicine combining traditional wisdom with modern scientific research to provide individualised healthcare using natural medicines including wholefoods, herbal medicines and nutritional supplements. The aim of naturopathic care is to treat your health issues at the root cause to enable the body to return to self-reliant optimal functioning. This requires me to take into account all factors affecting the health of your body, mind and soul and the intricate connections between each body system, to create a plan that will alleviate dis-ease and restore you to harmony.

During your initial consultation, I gather as much information as I can about your current health concerns, the functioning of all your body systems, family health history, personal health history and diet and lifestyle. From there I put together a tailored treatment protocol just for you. This might include diet and lifestyle changes, herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, flower essences or skincare. I may also recommend referrals and testing.

After your first consult with me, I recommend continuing to work with me every 2-4 weeks until your condition is resolved or you've learnt enough to manage your condition yourself without a need for regular visits. We'll continue building on and tweaking your original treatment plan based on how it's all progressing, as well as addressing new concerns or goals that may come up as your health changes. For chronic skin conditions and hormonal imbalances, you should expect a 3-6 month commitment for significant results.

What is your qualification?

I have a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) degree from Endeavour College of Natural Health (2013). I continually build my professional education with seminars and courses, mainly focussed around skin health, gut health and hormone balance. My history of working in spas and as a Diploma qualified eco makeup artist gives me additional experience in natural beauty.
What does a naturopath actually do?

Naturo = nature
Path = practitioner of specified system of medicine
I help people heal and prevent chronic health conditions, and optimise their health, using natural medicines.
I do this through taking a very detailed health history (of every body system from birth til now), looking at all the contributing factors in your life, as well as physical examinations and pathology testing if needed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I then piece together timelines and schematics to figure out how you got to where you are now.
You know those investigation boards you see in movies, with all the photos and pieces of string?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have something kinda like that in every patient file.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Using that information, I put together a treatment plan just for you and your needs. I have no interest in simply making you feel better straight away (though sometimes that is part of it); I want to treat the cause to resolution, restore optimal functioning to your entire body, mind and soul AND teach you how to look after yourself going forward.⠀⠀

What health concerns do you treat?

I treat all chronic health conditions, with a special interest in skin health. Some examples of conditions I work with:
Acne, eczema, psoriasis, chronic rashes and other skin ailments⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fatigue and cognitive dysfunction⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Period pain, PMS and other hormonal imbalances⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Depression, anxiety, insomnia
Digestive concerns
Detoxification
Hair fall, nail conditions

It's not always about illness. You can also see me to work on your optimal health goals and see how you can take your wellbeing and lifestyle to the next level.

In most cases, it is necessary to address multiple body systems all at once. For example, skin healing often requires ensuring gut health, hormonal balance and immune regulation so if needed we will work on all these with your treatment plan.

I generally don't treat acute health conditions (short term infections, rashes, injuries, pain) and in most cases I'd recommend you see a doctor or pharmacist for support addressing any sudden new health issue, then see me for follow up care and systemic rebalancing if needed.
Will I have to spend lots of cash on products?

Not necessarily. I will recommend based on what you truly need, and while some supplements and herbs can be expensive (due to various factors of production, plant availability, no government subsidies etc) you will never be pressured to buy products. In some cases, we can work with diet and lifestyle alone, but in most cases, incorporating herbal and nutritional medicines can get you there faster and more effectively. I'll always be honest with you about what I believe the best approach is, but ultimately it's up to you what you want to purchase. Making up tailored herbal formulas, nutritional compounds and flower essences helps me target multiple areas with minimal products. I also take into account your financial wellbeing as a part of your overall health picture. It would be counterproductive for me to create financial stress for you during your healing journey.

Do you order pathology testing?

Absolutely! I can order most of the same tests doctors can (though you have to pay for them) plus many tests that doctors don't tend to offer including gut microbiome mapping, food intolerance testing, heavy metal testing, hair mineral analysis, stool analysis and detailed hormonal profiles.
What kinds of medicines do you prescribe?

Some of the treatment modalities I may use to restore health:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Herbal medicines - tinctures, capsules, tablets, teas, topical applications like creams and ointments (I primarily use tailored liquid herbs I mix up for your specific needs)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nutritional supplements (this may include powdered compounds that I can mix up for your specific needs, to give you multiple nutrients you need in one formula)â €
Topical skincare products (either tailor made or natural products I recommend)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dietary changes⠀(food as medicine is the foundation of health and getting it wrong can set us on a path to illness)⠀⠀
Lifestyle changes (anything from journalling to getting more sunshine, to exercising or morning routines - if I refer you to another therapist for extra support, it's usually for help in this area which can fall outside my scope)⠀⠀⠀⠀
Flower essences (primarily Australian bush flower essences that I tailor-make to treat energetic and emotional imbalances)
